Jury Duty & Subpoenas Policy

Regular and part-time employees of the University who are summoned to jury duty are granted necessary time off without any loss of pay or fringe benefits for time they were scheduled to work. Accrual for benefits calculations (such as sick leave, holiday benefits, and vacation) will not be altered during a jury duty absence.

Regular full and part-time employees who have received a subpoena to be a witness in court on a matter unconnected to their employment at Leighton University will not accept compensation from the University for period spent responding to the subpoena except the employee may seek to use his/her available vacation or personal leave.

A supervisor may ask for documentation from the employee to confirming the scheduled dates for jury duty or for responding to a subpoena.
