Customized studies are a hallmark of the Leighton's Liberal Studies programs. Benefit from a core of interdisciplinary, liberal arts courses—building foundational skills for any career—while balancing the breadth and depth of specialized topics relevant to your educational interest. The Liberal Studies program allows students to create an individualized curriculum composed of courses and experiences which meet their individual career needs. The online BS in Liberal Studies or the AS in Liberal Studies offers the opportunity to align your studies to your interests—not the other way around.
You will be able to make connections across various fields of your choosing, applying knowledge to real-world problems, and gaining diverse and applicable skills such as problem-solving, research, leadership, and teamwork. Rather than focus on one major field of study, liberal studies programs introduce students to a wide range of academic subjects to provide a well-rounded, interdisciplinary education.
In addition to a flexible program of study, students complete an in-depth internship/community service/external experience. Through this “real world" experience students have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in their Leighton's coursework. In this external experience, students practice and hone their critical thinking, communication, and discipline-specific skills.

The Bachelor's of Science in Liberal Studies programs emphasize a broad learning experience for the student and a wider perspective than that provided by any other undergraduate majors. The design of the programs offer students the opportunity to participate in an broad interdisciplinary, academically sound and goal-oriented education directly relevant to the student’s intellectual development and career goals.
The Associate of Sciences degree in Liberal Studies a solid foundation for learners who plan to transfer to a four-year program and continue studying various majors in the arts & sciences. Pathways are described in some areas to guide general education choices and free electives that will build toward an A.S. that allows learners to explore exciting areas of learning and meet CORE requirements.
