MATH 272 Advanced Calculus and Analytical Geometry 3 hours credit – The course focuses on differentiation of inverse trigonometric functions and application of implicit and logarithmic differentiation. It also emphasizes the completion of the Basic Integration Rules, techniques of integration, improper integrals, parametric equations, sequences, and series. Applications of integration include area and volumes of solids of revolution.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Students will develop a basic understanding of two- and three-dimensional vectors, the geometry of the plane and space, and be able to apply these concepts when working applied problems.

  • Evaluate definite integrals using the fundamental theorem of calculus.
  • Use numerical methods to estimate the value of definite integrals.
  • Use techniques of integration to evaluate definite and identifiable integrals.
  • Students will learn various techniques of integration including integration by parts, trigonometric substitution, and partial fractions decomposition.
  • Find limits of sequences.
  • Determine whether series diverge, converge conditionally, or converge absolutely, and or estimate sums of series and the approved intervals of convergence.
  • Interpret and solve certain types of differential equations, including separable and first order linear.3) Students will acquire basic skills needed to apply integration techniques to solve a wide range of integration problems.
  • Students will develop a basic understanding of infinite series and their applications.
